Benchmark Plagiarism Tariff

Guided by the findings of the Academic Misconduct Benchmarking Research Project (AMBeR) this report summarises the findings of a consultation exercise with a self selected group of UK universities to develop a benchmark tariff for assigning penalties for student plagiarism. As part of the consultation participants were asked to identify and rank which factors they felt were important when assigning penalties and also to assign penalties to three theoretical incidents of student plagiarism. The resulting tariff aims to offer a much needed degree of consistency and transparency to institutions in this area.
